Calling All Bleach Fans!

Posted by Christina on November 23rd, 2011

Friends, countrymen, fellow Bleach addicts, lend me your ears!

For those of you following the manga, let me start spoiler-free but by saying “HOLY PLOT TWIST” in this weeks chapter (Number 474). I just don’t know what to think right now. Kubo was totally wearing his troll-face when finishing up that chapter.

But hey, at the end of the manga chapters we had a new Radio Kon Hyper page! It revealed a couple pretty cool things, which I’d like to now share with you. I’ll put them after the jump, because the new figure set announced (which actually looks to have been announced two weeks ago but the manga scanlations I was reading did not have the Radio Kon page at the end) contains a bit of spoilers if you’re only following the anime and don’t want to see characters’ new post-timeskip looks yet til the anime catches up.

At the top we can see three special limited 10th Anniversary of Bleach bracelets! They look so pretty, and as a fangirl I have to say I find them quite exciting. They come in a keepsake box with the 10th Anniversary logo on them, and a bromide of the character whose bracelet you get! The artwork on the bromides match the bracelets, which are color-styled like Ichigo, Toushiro, and Byakuya. Each bracelet features two-tone beads, and the larger beads have the Bleach logo and the character’s name etched on them. You can check out hi-res photos of the bracelets and images of the character art on the site where they can be purchased, XShip. Just click the red button underneath your desired character’s picture. I have to say, the artwork on these are quite nice; Simple pictures of the guys in black shirts wearing the bracelets… Kubo knows how to get women to spend money, that’s for sure.  The price on these is 11,000 yen each,  which with the current economic state converts to about $145 USD. They’re sold out now, but it appears they are going to restock soon. If anyone really loves me and is looking for gift ideas, I’m madly in love with the Byakuya version… just sayin’.

A new set of Bleach Styling figures is due out in March of 2012.  So far we’ve been treated to prototype images of Ichigo in his Fullbring armor (seen above), and Rukia in her Lieutenant garb (seen below). Rukia’s face looks a little off to me, but I am hoping that’s just in the prototype and subject to change. The old set of Bleach figures that were called Styling was made by Bandai, but I don’t unfortunately have any of them to compare to, and can’t decipher any mention of Bandai on these pages anyways. There is a logo there for Bravism, which if that is a brand name, is not one that I’ve ever heard of. If anyone has further details let me know, otherwise I’ll keep you posted via the Facebook and Twitter pages as I find out more. I’m very excited to see if they reveal more figures in the series! I haven’t been able to turn up any pre-order sources on these yet since they’re so new, but as soon as I do and get my order in, I’ll share.

Perhaps more exciting than the figures and the bracelets, they’ve announced a second BLE-CON (Bleach Concept Covers) album, BLE-CON 2. Last December we saw the release of the first BLE-CON album, and this second album is due out December 14th of this year! You can check out the album cover, track list and sticker sheet (which I won’t use because I’ll feel bad just like I did with the first one even though they’re super-cute) at the bottom of this week’s Radio Kon Hyper! page. This album is Arrancar-centric, and aside from Ichigo and Rukia will feature opening and ending songs covered entirely by Vizard and Espada/Fracción. As soon as I read it this morning, I began translating the track list and who each song was by. Special thanks to my husband for helping figure out which Espada names were there; I’m pretty bad at remembering katakana. For your amusement, here’s the track list along with who is performing the song (and their seiyuu):

01.  Introduction – Barragan Louisenbairn (CV: Shouzou Iizuka)
02.  Koyoi, Tsuki ga Miezu Tomo – Ichigo Kurosaki (CV: Morita Masakazu)
03.  Anima Rossa – Ulquiorra Schiffer (CV: Daisuke Namikawa)
04.  Alones – Szayel Apporo Granz (CV: Kousuke Toriumi)
05.  Velonica - Tia Hallibel (CV: Megumi Ogata)
06.  Tane wo Maku Hibi – Shinji Hirako (CV: Masaya Onosaka)
07.  Orange – Coyote Starrk & Lilinette Gingerbuck (CVs: Rikiya Koyama & Kiyomi Asai)
08.  Hitohira no Hanabira – Apache, Mila Rose & Sun-Sun (CVs: Kumi Sakuma, Sayori Ishizuka & Ayumi Sena)
09.  Sakurabito – Aaroniero Arruruerie (CV: Toshihiko Seki { Kaien Shiba voice! } )
10.  Tabidatsu Kimi he – Lisa Yadoumaru, Mashiro Kuna & Hiyori Sarugaki (CVs: Kanako Hatori, Akemi Kanda & Reiko Takagi)
11.  chAngE – Rukia Kuchiki (CV: Fumiko Orikasa)
12.  echoes – Grimmjow Jaegerjaques (CV: Junichi Suwabe)
13.  Ranbu no Melody – Nnoitra Gilga & Tesla Lindocruz (CVs: Nobutoshi Canna & Yuichi Nakamura)
14.  Save the One, Save the All - Ichigo Kurosaki (CV: Morita Masakazu)

So, there you have it. Some really interesting match-ups. I hate to say it, but some of them I am very skeptical of. Hallibel performing “Velonica” seems like an odd idea to me; Megumi Ogata is extremely talented, but I feel like her character as Hallibel is too bland for such a song. Meanwhile, Shinji Hirako’s given a mellow song like “Tane wo Maku Hibi” when he has such a bold personality seems like a missed opportunity. I was extremely concerned about Aaroniero being given “Sakurabito,” until I deciphered that it was his seiyuu for when he is pretending to be Kaien. Universe’s “echoes” is one of my favorite Bleach songs, and while Junichi Suwabe is an extremely talented seiyuu and singer, I’m simply not sure his gruff voice is suited for that song. I guess you could say I’m cautiously optimistic about this album; Really hoping to be pleasantly surprised by some of these performances. I’m extremely psyched to hear Fumiko Orikasa perform “chAngE” as Rukia, though! Others I’m very much looking forward to are both of Ichigo’s, and Kousuke Toriumi’s take on “Alones” as Szayel Apporo.

Other Bleach things to get excited about besides these new announcements:

Two 2012 calendars that have come out, the second of which I’m particularly fond of since it features the large black & white art that was used in the 10th Anniversary display at last year’s Jump Festa; the Figuarts figures of Mugetsu Ichigo and Final Aizen are coming out soon (seem to be different release dates around the internet); The single for the new/current opening by SCANDAL, “Harukaze” is due out next Spring; and of course in case you’ve been living under a rock, the filler is over so you should all be watching the anime again.

I hope I haven’t forgotten anything, but I hope this edition of Christina’s Bleach Digest has been helpful, enlightening and maybe even a little entertaining to you!

i was really really waiting for new look rukia figurine but when i first saw those pages in mangastream i got really disapointed about rukia figure’s face…….. =_=”
i hope it’s only prototype and rukia will look normal, cuz how can they always make figures similiar and fail this much this time ?!

Heh, thanks for the comment! I know, I was a little iffy about her face too, but…
I mean, there’s a couple things to keep in mind:

-It’s a prototype and subject to changes
-The smaller the figure, the harder the details are to nail correctly (unless it’s made by the Good Smile Co. or Kotobukiya manufacturer)
-These will likely be blind/trading-box figures, so they’ll be reasonably-priced (I would guess around$15~), so if the paint job isn’t as nice as the expensive larger, harder-to-come-by figures it’s a little more forgivable
-You can always put it on the shelf angled slightly so the weird eye is hidden by her front hair-piece. (That’s what I’ve done with my Bandai limited edition figure from the movie which came with a coffee can, and my Toynami Rukia also.. XD)

I think we will wind up pleasantly surprised. Almost all figures have some kind of small imperfection, but they usually look great on shelves regardless~ ^_^

They’re up for preorder now! In boxes containing 4 blind boxes, and at a pretty reasonable cost, too! Rukia looks better IMO, and Renji has been revealed as the third in the set. If you decide to get a box, please let me know; If either of us doesn’t wind up with a complete set perhaps we can help eachother out with trading!
